Calculate your irrigation requirement using DU numbers

No irrigation system is 100% perfect, meaning that the DU or distribution uniformity is never 1.00. Most likely, Wateright's DU calculator estimated your irrigation system's DU below 1.0. Let's say Wateright calculated your system's DU at 0.85. What do we do with this number? In order to effectively deliver water to the lowest quarter (25%) of the field, the ETc value scheduled to be replaced by an irrigation also needs to be divided by the DU or [ETc/UD].

For example, if the ETc for the previous week was 0.5 inches, then:

0.5 / 0.85 = ~0.6 inches need to be applied

or

12.5 mm/ 0.85 = ~15 mm need to be applied
