Step 1
Finding a CIMIS station and entering a field description and field number
There are 95 CIMIS weather stations throughout California. The stations are geographically categorized into four major regions or districts (Northern, Central, San Joaquin and Southern). To find which CIMIS district your field is in, use the large California map. By clicking on your region in California, one of the four district maps will be displayed in detail. When you click on the actual CIMIS weather station number, Wateright will reference this particular weather station, when establishing an irrigation schedule.
Below is an example which depicts the first data entry for Wateright. You must select a CIMIS weather station, enter field description and field number. Once you have chosen the correct CIMIS station and entered the correct field information, Wateright will forward this information throughout the session.
As seen above, we have chosen CIMIS station # 42 which is in Lodi, San Joaquin County. Let's say you farm 40 acres of corn in the northern part of your ranch. Under field description you type in North 40 and since it the first field you are scheduling, we'll assign it field number 1. You can schedule up to 10 fields, crops or irrigation systems. You are now ready to proceed and select a crop, soil type and irrigation system.
