  Wateright Agricultural Tutorial

Step 3

Select an irrigation system

At this point in time, Wateright is ready to automatically multiply the specific crop coefficient (kc) numbers by the ETo values obtained from the CIMIS weather station. From this calculation, Wateright will know the approximate daily crop water use, or ETc.

Wateright estimates the crop water loss per period of time. But what about the how and when to apply an irrigation to keep the crop growing? The next thing Wateright needs to know about replenishing the water lost is the type of irrigation system used to deliver the water to the crop.

Below is an example of Wateright's irrigation system selection page. Notice it has retained the field description and field number specific to our example; (North 40, Field 1).

WATERIGHT Agricultural data

Field Description: North 40
Field Number: 1
Choose your system type:

Drip Micro
Surface
Sprinkler

Wateright has identified the most common irrigation systems used by growers. For our example of corn, let's choose a sprinkler system and move on to entering the specifics of the irrigation system.
